How To Test the Midmark M9D Autoclave Temperature Sensor
Warning: Power Must Not Be Present When Taking Resistance Readings. Disconnect power to the unit before performing this test
Note: Let the unit cool down before testing. The Temperature Sensor must be tested at room temperature(25°C or 77°F)
- Disconnect the Temperature Sensor wire harness from the J12 connector on the PC Board
- Set the volt/ohm meter to 2k ohms
- Place the multimeter probes on the red and white wires of the Temperaure Sensor wire harness
Your reading on your meter should be between 1.07 and 1.1 ohms. If it is outside of this range, replacement Of your M9D Temperature Probe is required
The Midmark M9D Autoclave Temperature Sensor is located in the back of the chamber
What The Midmark M9D Autoclave Temperature Sensor Does
This sensor monitors the chamber temperature during the Heat-up and Sterilization Modes, and send this information back to the PC Board.
Based on this feed back, the PC Board turns the heating element On and Off as needed
Service Tip: Residue can build up on the Probe of the sensor causing false temperature readings.
If a temperature related malfunction occurs, clean the probe with an abrasive pad (Scotch Brite White Or Pink)
Midmark M9D Autoclave Temperature Sensor Function
During The Fill Mode |
The Temperature Is Not Monitored |
During The Heat Up & Sterilization Modes |
The Temperature Sensor Continually Monitors The Chamber Temperature & Transmits This Information To The PC Board
The PC Board Turns The Heating Element ON/OFF Based on The Readings From The Temperature Sensor |
During The Vent Mode |
The Temperature Sensor Continually Monitors The Chamber Temperature & Sends This Information To The PC Board |
During The Drying Mode |
The Temperature Sensor Continually Monitors The Chamber Temperature & Transmits This Information To The PC Board
If The Temperature Sensor Exceeds 240°F (115°C), The Board Stops The Current Flow To The Heating Element Until The Temperature Drops |
