Any pressure leak can cause overheating, which will in turn cause the high limit thermostats to cut power to the heating element & trigger the C9xx Error Codes
A Pressure Leak is a leak of Air, Steam, Or Water
Where & How To Check For Pressure Leaks On The Newer Midmark M9 Autoclaves
For Midmark M9 & M9D Model # -020 thru -022 Autoclaves With The Following Serial Number Prefixes: RN, RP, RR, RW, RX, V
And Midmark M11 & M11D Model # -020- thru -022 Autoclaves With The Following Serial Number Prefixes: RS, RT, RV, RY, RZ, V
Here are the first things to check:
- Check All Fittings: If you find any leakage, Tighten/Replace as necessary
- Pressure Sensor Hose: Steam Leaking from the hose/pc board connection. Carefully Secure connection with a cable tie
- Door Gaskets - Water Leaking Around Door - Replace The Door & Dam Gasket
- Look For Puddling on the counter under the autoclave, Puddling indicates the Safety Valve is Leaking & will need to be replaced
Once The above sources have been ruled out, You will now look at the the inside of the reservoir for leaks
- Air Valve
- Vent Valve
- Fill Valve
- Condensation Coil
Determining which component is causing the problem is a fairly simple process. You just have to watch inside the water reservoir. You will need to remove the left side panel (as you are facing the front of the autoclave)
by removing the two screws on top and set it aside.
This will give you access to the water reservoir. Now it is just a matter of watching inside the reservoir during a cycle (a flashlight & dental mirror will come
in handy for this procedure)
- If Steam is Exhausting out of the end of the condensation coil during sterilization mode: The problem is with the Air Valve
- If Water is Leaking From The End Of The Condensation Coil, The Problem is the Vent Valve
- If Bubbles are coming Up From The Bottom Of The Reservoir, Then The Problem is With The Fill Valve
- If There Are Bubbles Coming From Anywhere Along the Condensation Coil (These Will Be Very Small Bubbles, Like Champagne Bubbles) Then The Coil
Has A Pinhole and Will Need To Be Replaced
